An intense arrest was caught on camera when officers stopped a man suspected of selling drugs. During a pat-down, police felt a gun on him. Instead of securing the man immediately, the officers hesitated, and he began to resist. Shockingly, he wasn’t handcuffed when things escalated. One of the officers then punched the man during the struggle.
Though the suspect did, in fact, have a gun, the police department’s chief reviewed the footage and called the officers’ actions “disturbing and deplorable.” The chief has since referred the case to prosecutors for review.
Many are now asking: If the officers felt a gun during the search, why wasn’t the suspect immediately secured? Why wasn’t he cuffed sooner to prevent the situation from turning violent? The incident raises serious concerns about the officers’ tactics and judgment in handling potentially deadly situations.
